Startup Financial Planning Consultant
Build the financial model, operating budget and fundraising summaries that connect our product roadmap, hiring decisions and growth plans to the capital required.

About the role
We are looking for an experienced financial planning consultant to work directly with the founder on RaiseDesk’s financial plan. You will turn our commercial assumptions, product roadmap and operating requirements into a model we can use to make decisions and support fundraising. This is a hands-on assignment. You will build the model, challenge assumptions, identify missing costs and explain how changes affect spending, runway and funding requirements.
What you’ll do
- Review our pricing, product roadmap, existing traction and planned team, distinguishing confirmed information from assumptions.
- Build an editable financial model with monthly projections for 24 months and an annual summary for year three.
- Model revenue based on customer acquisition, pricing, retention and potential onboarding or service fees.
- Develop an operating and hiring budget covering employees, contractors, data, enrichment, AI usage, infrastructure, outreach, support and professional services.
- Produce profit-and-loss and cash-flow forecasts, including cash runway and funding requirements.
- Build lean, base and accelerated scenarios, showing the effects of slower growth, delayed funding and higher delivery costs.
- Assess gross margin, cost to serve and customer acquisition economics, making unvalidated assumptions explicit.
- Prepare concise fundraising tables and charts covering financial projections, use of funds and milestones.
- Hand over the model with documentation, a walkthrough and an agreed revision round.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience building financial models for early-stage software or subscription businesses.
- Experience preparing financial forecasts and supporting materials for startup fundraising.
- Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, with clear formulas and an organized assumptions structure.
- Ability to connect commercial and product decisions to their financial implications.
- Sound judgment when working with limited historical data.
- Ability to work independently, identify gaps and explain the numbers clearly to a founder.
Preferred
- Experience modelling variable data, infrastructure or AI-related costs.
- Experience advising founders on lean hiring plans and milestone-based spending.
- A background in startup FP&A, strategic finance or hands-on fractional CFO work.
How we work
We are a small team that values ownership, practical judgment and clear communication. You will work directly with the founder, with access to the team for product, technical and operating assumptions. We expect you to raise questions early and deliver a model the company can maintain independently.
Engagement
This is a paid, fixed-scope project with an agreed fee, deliverables, milestones and completion date. Any follow-on support will be agreed separately. The assignment covers financial planning and fundraising materials. Bookkeeping, tax filings, audit work and investor solicitation are outside the scope.
