Investor discovery
Find investors relevant to your raise
Start with your company context and a clear reason to consider each investor.
A name is only the beginning
A broad database can suggest possibilities. A useful investor target has a reason for being on your list. Stage, sector, geography, typical investment size, thesis and recent activity all shape that decision.
RaiseDesk is being built to bring the company's own context into investor discovery, helping founders review potential fit rather than treating every search result as a match.
Look for the reason behind the match
Research can include stated interests, portfolio activity and the individual who may be closest to your sector. Some information will be incomplete or dated. Keep the source and the uncertainty visible when deciding whether to prioritize an investor.
Start with people who know your company
Advisers, shareholders, other founders and professional contacts may reveal a meaningful path to an investor. A relationship can help you choose an approach, but it does not replace investor fit.
What a reviewable investor record looks like
Imagine a seed-stage company building industrial software. A potential investor’s public thesis mentions industrial operations, two recent investments show a related focus, and a portfolio founder knows your adviser. That is a useful starting hypothesis, not a confirmed match.
Record the sources, date, possible introduction route and what still needs checking, such as cheque size or whether the relevant partner is active. Then decide whether to research further, request context or prioritize outreach.
Revise criteria as you learn
The first investor profile is a working model. If the investors responding tend to share a particular stage, industry or business model, revisit the criteria. If a sector fit repeatedly fails because of cheque size or geography, refine the filters before expanding the list.
From discovery to a decision
Review the evidence, set priority and choose whether an introduction, more research or direct outreach makes sense. Keep the reason and next step with the investor record so the work can move forward.
